This will be our last ice fishing and ice report for the season. A person can still find shore lines to go out with ATVS or by walking. After getting away from shore we still have over 26" of ice. Did get some great reports of nice 11" to 13" Perch coming off Moses bar on the south end. Snag Hole was mixed reports. People that moved up and down the bar did great in 20' of water. West Winnie campgrounds did give up some nice Perch but had to sort out a lot of small Perch. The deep rock pile south of Ravins in 20' is still producing some nice 10"+ Perch. My next report will be the first week in May just before the opener.

As of today, the ice along the shoreline is still holding out in front of our place for ATV access. People did quite well fishing yesterday with limits coming off the lake of very nice fish. We did not get any of the rain and maybe 1/2 inch of the snow that was predicted for this area. It looks like that with the cooler weather that ATV's should be able to access the lake through the weekend.

The ice is going fast with the warm weather and travel is limmited to ATV only for the shore lines are lines with water and are going quikly. AS of this last weekend the fish were slow but activly biting as the front moved in. IF the weather continues to be warm like so id give ATV travel another week or so but conditions are worsening for we put the front end of the truck through near shore on saterday night.

We closed our landing down this morning, just ATVS now. A person can still drive out at Richards Townsite but not for much longer. The way our weather forcast is the ice will go pretty fast. We should still be going out with ATVS next weekend.

We are still getting some 12" to 14" Perch on the rock pile south of Ravins point. East end of Sugar bar, in front of the west Winnie summer homes. Fish from 24' out to 32'. Best baits are still the (fire tiger glow)rattlin spoon, Forage minnow jig (any glow), Angle eye (glow blue). Tip the jigs with a half a fathead minnow. Shore line ice is starting to draw water in places. Best to call any resort before heading out on the lake. I look for ATV travel to start any day now.

Fished center bar on Sat. In 30-35 ft of water. Did well. Drill a lot of holes and move till you find them. A lot of water on ice. Make sure to talk to resorts on conditions. Use fatheads. All the perch were 11-13 inches with a few bigger than that. ice is still 36 in thick. good luck!

Group of us are going up the weekend of 3-19. Been reading this web-site everyday. Sounds like the perch are biting. Curious, how big are these jumbos, how many inches. Appreciate any feed back.

Most all the bars are giving up some nice Perch limits. 2 of the best bars are Moses inline with our houses and the north-south section of center. Best depth is 30' to 32'. The last few days we did have reports of Perch coming out of 20' of water. The gold Perch forage minnow jig, firetiger & glow rainbow fire-eye minnow, perch color glow devils & the angel eye jrs are the best baits. Tip them with a * a fathead minnow and fish in 32' to 35' of water. Move, move, move tell you get on the Perch. There is several ice heaves on the lake now and do not cross them. They are solid one time and open up the next time you try to cross. Check at any resorts where the heaves are and how to go around them. We now have 38"+ of ice and 2" of snow cover.

I was there on Monday and Tuesday. There is one large pressure ridge but if you go out from Nodak lodge their road avoids it. Fishing was very slow, we caught enough for supper Mon night and between two of us brought home 13-14 fish. 30+ feet, chartruce, minnow,

Most all the bars are giving up some nice Perch limits. The drop in front of the birdhouses, middle of Sugar (work it east) and the Humps are the bars. The gold Perch forage minnow jig, firetiger & glow rainbow fire-eye minnow, perch color glow devils & the angel eye jrs are the best baits. Tip them with a ½ a fathead minnow and fish in 32' to 35' of water. Move, move, move tell you get on the Perch. There is several ice heaves on the lake now and do not cross them. could anyone tell me how the perch bite is on Winnie? Six of us are coming up on friday the 7th, and fishing on the 8th and the 9th. We are probably gonna fish out from Highbanks Resort. That is the only place we have fished on the ice! My buddy was up there three weeks ago and got a couple dozen 10 inchers! Is there still some action out in 30-35 feet of water, and what are the hot jig colors? Any response would be great! Thanks!

Fished Winni Friday the 28th and Sat. the 1st, with limits caught both days. We had six guys in our "party", and the fishing was excellent in 10 feet of water on the north west end of the lake. We were about 50 yards inside of the pressure ridge that runs all the way around the lake. It didn't seem to matter what you had on for a bait, we used mainly jigs and spoons in glow colors.

WENT UP TO WINNIE ON 3-1 SATURDAY, FROM 1 TO 6, WENT OUT WHERE THEY HAD THE FISHING CONTEST, AND HEADED OVER TO THE LEFT, AROUND 2 MILES. THERE IS A HUGE PRESSURE RIDGE, THAT IS SOME WHAT HARD TO PASS OVER. THE WINDS AND SNOW ON SATURDAY, WERE A SEMI WHITE OUT. ICE WAS UP TO THE AUGER BUT DOABLE. GLARE ICE, WITH SNOWY PATCHES, VERY SLICK, AND EASY TO TAKE A ENDO. OUR GROUP CAUGHT 20 PERCH, BUT SLOW GOING AS THE FRONT WAS HEAVY, WITH TEMPS THE NEXT DAY SUPPOSED TO BE AROUND 18 BELOW ZERO, AND WIND CHILLS WELL BELOW THAT. WE BUILT A FIRE OUT ON THE ICE, AND HAD ELK BRAUTS, GOOD EATING. I CAUGHT A NICE WALLEYE AND BUDDIE CAUGHT A NICE NORTHERN IN 34 FT OF WATER. THE FISH WERE DOWN THERE, BUT WERE VERY HESITANT, THE DAY BEFORE ON FRONT SUNNY WARM DAY HIGH OF 34 THEY SLAMMED THE FISH, APPARENTLY. SO WEATHER IS HUGE. FIRST TIME OUT ON THIS LAKE, PRETTY NICE. COULD BARELY SEE SHORE LINE WITH THE SNOW BEING BLOWN SO HARD. SORT OF A WHITE WASHING OF YOUR MIND, WHEN OUT IN THESE CONDITIONS, YOU FORGET ABOUT THE TWIN CITYS, AND ALL YOUR WORRYS. ONE OF OUR GUYS, DRILLED A CIRCLE OF HOLES AND MOVED THE CIRCUIT, HE CAUGHT THE MOST. I THINK THESE PERCH LIKE ORANGE FOR THE MOST PART, I CHANGED THE JIGS UP ALLOT. THEY LIKE NEW OFFERINGS. ALL SIZES WERE CAUGHT.
