I'm new to looking at these reports (just spotted this web site), and I'm interested in fishing crappies. Nottage L. sounds interesting! Where is this lake? I'm looking for a little ice fishing and am interested in spring crappies/sunfish as well (when our ice turns to liquid again)! Can you help me out? I do most of my fishing from a canoe - done a lot of that in the BWCA.

Cookie: It was nice meeting your Brother Warren and his buddie Matt. They seem like nice guys and they have a good sense of humor. Also was nice to meet your wife, you are a lucky man to have such a lovely lady! My son was happy to have met you and can see that you enjoy life much. Our report isn't very good, we only caught three perch and zero crappies, not a good day for fishing!! Talked to some people from Forest Lake and they had the same luck as we did...none. Also talked with some fellows at the gas station in Kelior and they didn't have anything either. They sure were busy at the station..wow..We stopped at Hillmans and asked the lady where to fish and her reply was "your guess is as good as mine!!" Hope to try it one more time this winter and have my son catch a slab!! Harry

Jim,

I can't agree with you more. I'm a Civil Engr Tech, for a County, but not Becker. I need to go to the Becker Court house or to the Becker Engr and see what I can pull up. I also have been working with the CP RR on a project, I'm going to talk to someone that will lead me in the right direction.

I don't really want to fight with these people, I just want to prove them wrong.

feel free to email me, maybe we could work together.

Jon, after growing up as a farm kid, I generally take the side of landowners in these type of matters. However it really ticks me off when landowners act like the world owes them something. I am a land surveyor, and if you are unsuccessful in locating R/W plats, I would be happy to check my resources for any pertinent info. I was just going to go out to Nottage two nights ago, would have been interesting....Good luck

Scott and his guys did not catch any crappies. John and his buddy zero so they headed to LOW hope they do better there. We had a little run when we were leaving at 11pm caught 3 and missed 2, Warren and Matt were wiped out from the drive and went to bed.We will have fish for lunch tomorrow,Matt has not fished in 15 years. Darrin from New Brighton, sounds like you know Leech pretty good. A couple buddies and I want to stay in MN this fall for our annual week-long fishing trip and are thinking of hitting Leech. Do you (or anyone else on this board that knows Leech good) have any suggestions on where to stay and where to start fishing it? We're not picky about what gamefish we chase but order of preference is probably bass, pike then eyes. Thanks!

I went to Nottage tonight......And got kicked off 2 minutes after I hand augered a hole. They claimed they owned everything around the Lake. I disagree because CP Rail has anywhere from 100' to 150' of Right of way. I did not argue with the owner and left quitely. They did threaten bringing the Sheriff out to talk with me.

I'm going to check with my office and secure some Right of Way maps and see for my self. There is not land between the toe of the RR slope from the tracks to the lake.

I want to rent a helicopter and drop in on this lake.

i was reading the reports on winnie, and they said that the perch are eating mayflies, was wondering if the tullibees on leech are starting to be caught, or if the shrimps are not hatched yet. went up there last year, and a whole group of fisherman moved and found them, was a nice time. I still have some smoked from last winter, very good. I suspect the season for these silver darts, will be starting in the next two weeks. keep posting fishing experiences on these tullibees, would be interested to know whats going on. i had a friend go up to red on 22nd and got his limit, 7 miles out of hillman. 12 ft? of water. we are headed up to winnie this weekend for a day. it looks like they might be biting? one does not know until you get a line down the hole. especially reading these comments, it seems you do have to keep moving, and drilling, and goya, get off your butt. as in all th ings. one cannot beat fun for having a good time.

I've been fishing pike just out from warroad for about 6 winters now. The fishing is usually sporadic, but some days are phenomenal! Does anyone know of any structure, or the so called channels I've heard people talk about? I've had instances where we're not catching much, but the people 50 yards aways are hammering them.... ?

Talk to Don at Hudecs says they have been doing pretty good. Went to an area not being fished and hammered them, would not give location ,just off by himself. Scott and his buddies did not do to well, 4 guys 2 fish. They did not move,If you want these crappies you need to move if your not catching them move. .10 yards or 100 just keep moving and test fishing. Drill extra holes before prime time, they can be checked for fish quickly with vexlar and minnow. When you drop minnow down if there hungry they will show up within minutes. When you find fish ,set up . I don't beleave the auger will chase them away, I have seen friends set up right next to there buddies and continue to catch fish, again if there feeding they can come fast a furious, do not fish two lines when the bite is on its better to concentrate on one. They put up a great fight. When you get them to the hole reach down and grab them do noy horse them in they are called paper mouth for a reason. GOOD LUCK TO ALL COOKIE

With walleye fishing over it's time to think jumbo yellow perch and tullibee (Cisco). Both have been alittle slow but with good company the day is always enjoyable. Best luck so far has been out from stony point and two points. Be careful and remember to always tell somebody where your going. Good luck fishing.

Some of the hottest sunfishing has been Rush lake south of Perham. Use the Cty 14 access on NE side of lake, you'll see where the action has been from there. Lake Lida east of Pelican Rapids has been ok too, Ct 4 access on NW part of lake, you'll see the activity there also.

Troy When you stop at Rodgers they will point you in the right derection. The area for the crappie contest will be determenied saturday. I beleave it will be out of waskish. When you get on aggressive crappies they will bite on almost anything, we have had good success with northland forage minnows, northland rattle lures, small teardrops with waxies, demons were real good last year, tried plain hook with minnow not one bite. If your not catching fish after dark move,if you keep hunting for them your odds will increase and you may stumble on to a feeding frenzy. Will be talking to guys in cabin later they were out late last night, Have cusins and brother showing up today so will be hitting it hard every night. Will no more later today on how the bite was last night. COOKIE
