Name: cookie Upper_Red_Lakewe were 4 miles out of Hillmens caught 45 fish over the weekend Name: Gene Upper_Red_LakeFished 3.3, 5.1 & 6.1 miles out of Washkish on 12/26/02 finder showed one significant fish per hour. I could see my sinker, minnow and occassional perch. Caught one 1.5 lb walleye. Fished 5.2 miles out of Hudecs on 12/28/02 - caught two small perch in two hours. Saw both of them coming on the depth finder. It appears the crappies had not arrived at the Northeast corner of Upper Red Lake yet. They keep there houses moving to locate some action. The ice should be in good shape to get the houses out to the key off shore spots by the time you arrive. I was wondering how well the resorts on Mille Lacs do at putting you on fish when setting up their perm fish houses. Couldnt keep 1 walleye though we got a 16 1/2, 21 1/4, 21 1/2, 22 1/2 and a 26 1/2. the perch was nice though. we caught them all on #6 hooks chartuese, pink, purple, and glow. Me and my buddy probably caught about 150 of nine to ten inchers. Not many keepers. Only about six that were from 14 to 18 inches. We were in 22 feet of water. No vehicles are allowed on the ice out of Jerry & Gusty Brandt's. They will shuttle you out on a jeep. There is plenty of ice though. I was out there last weekend, and about 10-14 inches. It varies. There is a pretty good size pressure ridge that is slowing people down though. Eyes were slow, perch were slow. Saw a couple on the vexilar but couldn't get them to bite.
