Walleye Hooks
Walleye fishing is tough, let's face it. But the reality of it is it doesn't have to be. I've read once that hook size matters....I don't think it does. I've read that hook color matters...it doesn't. The fact is-if hook color matters...than why not a BIG RED hook? See how these two tips contradict each other? Walleye rely on instinct...not hook size or color...so don't get into the trap that hook size or hook color matter. Use a bigger hook than you normally would...see if you fishing gets better or worse. I use as large as a 3/0 hook when I fish walleye. I've got some nice fish. I don't plan to downgrade or use colored hooks. Prove me wrong...but hook size matters only when you've LOST the big walleye because you used too small of a hook. Back to Fishing Tips |
